Join Barbara Brown, retired school librarian and VP of Manlius Historical Society and Pamela K. Gottheld, Adult Services Coordinator, librarian, and board member of Manlius Historical Society as they present American photographer, artist and author, Wallace Nutting. 

(We plan to have at least 12 pieces of his artwork for the presentation)

Wallace Nutting Biography

Wallace Nutting was an American photographer, artist, antiquarian, and an American minister. He was a native of Massachusetts who attended Phillips Exeter Academy, Harvard, Hartford Theological Seminary and Union Theological Seminary. He is most famous for his landscape photos of New England. He was the author of over 30 books, a furniture maker, lecturer, antiques collector and expert.

Barbara S. Brown’s Biography

Barbara graduated from Sauquoit High School and went on to Elmira to earn her associate degree in Secretarial Studies.  After 20 years, and marriage and children and working, she earned her BA from Utica College and. further, her MLS from SU.  She was Library Media Specialist at a nearby New Hartford Elementary School for 20 years.  Her library life was being a member of CNYLA and SLMS of NYLA.

In 1990, she moved to Manlius where she became a steadfast member, and still is, of the Manlius Historical Society.  Her favorite task is creating displays for the cases in both Manlius and Fayetteville.  Her other community involvements are being on the boards of Syracuse Sounds of Music Association, and Coterie.

Her interest in Wallace Nutting began over 50 years ago when she bought 2 prints for her sister at an antique show in Clinton.  Since then, her family members have given her prints.  Her favorites are ones with streams of water and/or blossoming trees, and have a name affixed.  Her sisters have it all! 

Pam's biography

Pamela K. Gottheld is the Adult Services Coordinator at Manlius Library where she has worked for over 22 years. Pam holds an associate degree from OCC, a Bachelor of Science from SUNY Fredonia and a master's in library and information science from Syracuse University. She serves on the Onondaga County Traffic Safety Advisory Board, the Manlius Historical Society Board, on the AFSP Syracuse Walk Committee and she along with her husband and youngest son, Christopher, founded Team Will G. to raise mental health awareness in memory of her oldest son, Will, who died by suicide.

Pam inherited her collection of 10 Wallace Nutting prints from her late father. She had watched his collection grow and had admired and appreciated the art.
